PEOPLE AND PLANES

WALT "SMOKEY" FRICKE

Walt used to fly his T-28 with the Trojan Horsemen but recently sold it and no longer flys in their airshows.  Walt is a highly decorated veteran having received the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, 21 air medals and a Purple Heart.

Upon retiring, Walt founded the Veterans Air Lift Command, another successful mission which has garnered national recognition.  His ties with the Trojan Horsemen are still close and the team flies as the VAC's "Honor Guard Flight Demo Team."
